About Investing in the USA, Florida, and Miami
First, one need not be a USA citizen to buy real estate in the USA.
Indeed, in South Florida, a large percentage of real estate is owned by
non-USA citizens. If you are not a USA resident, different banking
rules apply, but buying is still easy compared with many other
countries.
Second, what makes the USA, and South Florida (Miami) an interesting
investment right now? You know the baht's value is up and the USA
dollar's value is down even more. That means what ever you wanted to
buy in the USA, generally it is cheaper now than before.
Also, South Florida is one of the areas in the USA that has an excess
of properties (houses, condominiums, townhouses, commercial properties
on the market). That means that currency issues aside, these prices now
are lower in South Florida than they were a year or two ago.
Why Miami? Well, frankly, people love being here. It is an uncrowded
city with a beautiful climate. It is a global city, the Latin and South
American banking and commercial headquarters for many
international banks and corporations. That global nature also
means it is a city of many nationalities.
Florida weather? Not all unlike central Thailand, but on the ocean.
Ocean breezes keep it mild in the winter and moderately warm in the
summer. Generally, it is cooler than Bangkok in its hottest months,
and cooler than Bangkok in its cooler months. There is a storm season
(mid-Summer to late Fall) and hurricanes do happen.
